Matthew was born in Waco, TX, and studied at the University of North Texas where he earned a bachelor's degree in Radio, Television and Film.

In 2005, Matthew won a Texas Intercollegiate Press Association award for television production. The following year, he received a Lifetime Achievement award by the staff of North Texas Television (NTTV), and was nominated for a regional Emmy.

In 2008, Matthew was a staff writer for the CBS Studios company newsletter in Los Angeles.

 

In 2012, Matthew joined the US Navy, and honorably discharged after one tour.

 

In 2016, Matthew continued his education at Portland Community with additional degrees in multimedia and marketing.

​

In 2020, Matthew founded ScoutMaster, a free GPS app featuring the most comprehensive database of media shooting locations worldwide.

​
